The parliamentary committee investigating the cash crisis held a meeting with the National Oil Corporation.

Benghazi, January 19, 2026 (LANA) – The committee formed by the House of Representatives to investigate the causes of the monetary crisis, the liquidity shortage, the exchange rate, and to ensure the regular payment of state employee salaries, held a meeting today, Monday, via video conference with the Chairman of the National Oil Corporation (NOC), Masoud Suleiman. Also present were the Director General of International Marketing, Rabie Oraibi, and the Director of Finance at the NOC, Basem Al-Masri.
During the meeting, the financial challenges facing the country were discussed, along with ways to enhance cooperation between the NOC and relevant authorities to ensure the stability of financial resources and provide the necessary liquidity to settle employee salary obligations. The committee also explored mechanisms to support the exchange rate and monitor the regular flow of oil revenues, which represent the primary source of the national economy.
The committee members emphasized the need to continue direct coordination with the Central Bank, the NOC, and other relevant bodies to monitor the implementation of proposed solutions and address monetary and financial problems urgently. This is essential to safeguard salaries and stabilize the economic situation in Libya, and to submit practical recommendations to the House of Representatives to ensure their implementation as soon as possible.
