Tripoli, January 9, 2026 (LANA) – The Acting Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health of the Government of National Unity, Mohamed Al-Ghouj, chaired a consultative meeting dedicated to discussing the actual need for medicines and the mechanisms for their provision and distribution. The meeting concluded with the initiation of a comprehensive national plan to secure the pharmaceutical needs of all healthcare facilities throughout Libya.
Participants included the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Medical Supply Authority, a number of experts specializing in the pharmaceutical field, directors of relevant technical departments within the Ministry, representatives from the Emergency Medicine and Support Authority, and engineers from the drug system.
According to a statement issued by the Ministry of Health on its official page, the meeting concluded with the establishment of a national system aimed at regulating the flow of medicines in terms of quality, quantity, and price, and reducing stockpiling and waste, thereby ensuring the protection of public health and environmental safety.
This meeting comes within the framework of the Ministry of Health's plan to develop the pharmaceutical supply system, enhance governance and transparency, and ensure the continuous availability of essential medicines, thereby contributing to improving the quality of healthcare services provided to citizens.
