The parliamentary committee tasked with investigating the monetary crisis begins its work.

Benghazi, January 19, 2026 (LANA) – The parliamentary committee formed by a resolution of the House of Representatives commenced its work yesterday, Sunday, under the chairmanship of the Second Deputy Speaker of the House, Misbah Douma, and in the presence of committee members: Adam Bou Sakhra, Al-Siddiq Hamouda, Zayed Hadiya, Tariq Al-Ashtar, Youssef Al-Farjani, and Aisha Shalabi.
The committee is tasked with communicating with the Governor of the Central Bank of Libya, the bank's board of directors, and all relevant authorities to investigate the causes of the monetary crisis the country is experiencing, the liquidity shortage, and exchange rate fluctuations, in addition to working to ensure the regular payment of state employees' salaries.
The committee affirmed that its work comes within the framework of the House of Representatives' commitment to addressing financial and monetary imbalances, thereby contributing to alleviating the economic burdens on citizens and achieving financial stability.
