Al-Namroush meets Nicola Orlando in Tripoli

Tripoli, January 14, 2025 (LANA) – The Acting Chief of Staff of the Libyan Army, Lieutenant General Salah al-Din al-Namroush, met today, Thursday, in Tripoli, with the Head of the European Union Delegation to Libya, Ambassador Nicola Orlando.
Ambassador Orlando explained in a tweet on his official Twitter account that he appreciated the opportunity to meet with Lieutenant General al-Namroush, emphasizing the importance of the ongoing dialogue between the European Union and the Libyan military establishment.
In the same tweet, the Head of the EU Delegation reiterated his deepest condolences, on behalf of the European Union, for the tragic incident that claimed the life of Chief of Staff Field Marshal Mohammed Al-Haddad and several of his accompanying officers, expressing his profound sympathy to the families of the victims and the Libyan military establishment.
Orlando indicated that the meeting addressed current and future efforts aimed at expanding the partnership between the European Union and Libya, with a focus on strengthening the capabilities of the Libyan Armed Forces in full compliance with human rights and established international standards.
He added that the discussions also included supporting efforts to reunify the military establishment, enhancing support for improved land border management, and deepening cooperation with the EU's Operation Irini, all of which contribute to supporting security and stability at the national and regional levels.
