Slight improvement in the ranking of the Libyan passport according to the global classification

Pulbished on:

Benghazi, January 14, 2026 (LANA) – The Libyan passport saw a relative improvement in its ranking by 2026, according to the Henley Passport Index, climbing to 93rd place globally after ranking 100th in 2025.

This 93rd ranking is a positive indicator, moving the Libyan passport out of the top ten weakest passports in the world. It is the best ranking it has achieved since 2014, the year that marked the beginning of political divisions and security turmoil that plagued the country for years.

According to the index data, Libyan citizens can enter 39 international destinations out of approximately 227 worldwide without a prior visa.

The Henley Passport Index is the standard ranking of all passports worldwide, based on the number of destinations their holders can access without a prior visa.

The index relies on exclusive data from the International Air Transport Association (IATA), the world's largest and most accurate database of travel information, and is further enhanced by the research team at Henley & Partners, the London-based firm that publishes the index.
