Cairo, January 14, 2026 (LANA) – Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi received Massad Boulos, Senior Advisor to the US President for Arab and African Affairs, in Cairo on Wednesday. The meeting was also attended by Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdel-Aty, General Intelligence Directorate Chief Major General Hassan Rashad, and several officials from the US Embassy in Cairo.
Presidential Spokesman Mohamed El-Shenawy explained that the meeting addressed ways to strengthen bilateral relations between Egypt and the United States and the need to intensify consultations and joint coordination on a number of regional issues of mutual interest.
The spokesman indicated that the discussions focused on developments in Libya, as well as Sudan and the Horn of Africa, emphasizing the importance of joint action to support regional stability and maintain the security of the region's countries.
He added that the meeting specifically addressed developments in Sudan, with the Egyptian President expressing his appreciation for the US administration's commitment to ending the war. He affirmed Egypt's support for regional and international efforts aimed at achieving security and stability and its commitment to Sudan's sovereignty and territorial integrity.
The meeting also witnessed a convergence of views on the need to de-escalate tensions in the region and promote political solutions to existing crises, thereby contributing to regional peace, preserving the sovereignty of states, and protecting the resources of their people.
