Al-Hawij and the British ambassador discuss strengthening trade and investment cooperation between the two countries.

Tripoli, January 14, 2026 (LANA) – The Minister of Economy and Trade in the Government of National Unity, Mohamed Al-Hawij, met in Tripoli with the United Kingdom's Ambassador to Libya, Martin Reynolds, to discuss ways to enhance trade and investment cooperation between the two countries.

In this context, Al-Hawij called on the British side to activate the agreements and memoranda of understanding signed between the two countries in the fields of economy and investment, as well as to encourage British companies to enter the Libyan market in various sectors and establish partnerships with local investors.

Al-Hawij also outlined the Ministry's plan to localize industries and increase the volume of trade with international partners.

For his part, the British Ambassador affirmed his country's support for the efforts of the Government of National Unity, which contribute to achieving political, security, and economic stability in Libya.

He explained the readiness of the Commercial Office at the Embassy to strengthen cooperation with the Ministry of Economy and Trade, with the aim of improving the business environment in the Libyan market, which would contribute to attracting British investments and establishing long-term partnerships in areas of mutual interest.
