The Libyan army chief of staff discusses ways to support and enhance the readiness of naval forces

Tripoli, January 13, 2026 (LANA) – The Chief of the General Staff of the Libyan Army, Lieutenant General Dr. Salah al-Din al-Namroush, held an expanded meeting with the Chief of Staff of the Naval Forces, Major General Engineer Nour al-Din al-Buni, to discuss the challenges hindering the operations of the naval forces and ways to enhance their operational readiness.
The meeting, which was attended by a number of specialized officers, addressed the obstacles impeding the work of the naval forces, primarily the maintenance of certain naval vessels and the possibility of utilizing them in maritime patrols, thereby contributing to increased performance efficiency and enhanced maritime security.
The meeting also addressed the completion of several land-based projects necessary to support the naval forces' infrastructure, in order to meet operational requirements and improve the performance environment and technical and logistical readiness.
During the meeting, al-Namroush emphasized the importance of overcoming existing difficulties and developing practical solutions to support the naval forces and enable them to perform their national duties efficiently and effectively.
