The Ministry of Defense in the Government of National Unity is discussing joint cooperation with the United Nations Mine Action Service in Libya.

Tripoli, January 13, 2026 (LANA) – A consultative meeting was held this morning at the Ministry of Defense of the Government of National Unity between the Ministry's Human Rights and International Humanitarian Law Office and the United Nations Mine Action Service (UNMAS) in Libya to discuss areas of joint cooperation.

The meeting, which was attended by representatives from the Weapons and Ammunition Department and the Military Engineering Department of the General Staff, discussed cooperation between the two sides in capacity building and technical support, in accordance with international standards and human rights.

The UNMAS expressed its willingness to provide the necessary training and technical programs to support the Military Engineering Department in disposing of explosive remnants of war, and to support the Weapons and Ammunition Department in building its capacity to carry out safe storage operations.

It is worth noting that the Code of Conduct adopted by the Ministry restricts the movement of weapons except with prior instructions from the highest level.
