Tripoli, January 13, 2026 (LANA) – The head of the Passports and Nationality Authority met today in Tripoli with the head of the Interpol office to discuss the regularization of the status of Libyan citizens wanted by foreign security agencies, within the framework of legal procedures that guarantee their rights and the sovereignty of the state.
The coordination meeting, which was attended by a number of officers from both sides, also addressed the development of a more effective mechanism for regulating the entry and residency of foreigners in the country, in coordination with the Interpol office. This is part of a comprehensive security plan aimed at strengthening oversight and controlling entry and residency.
Those present emphasized that the integration of roles between the Passports Authority and the Interpol office represents an important step towards building an integrated security system, and expressed their commitment to continuing these meetings to overcome all technical and legal obstacles.
