The Scientific Research Authority and the Atomic Energy Corporation sign a memorandum of understanding to implement joint research programs.

Tripoli, January 13, 2026 (LANA) – The Director General of the Libyan Scientific Research Authority, Faisal Al-Abdali, signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on Tuesday with the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Atomic Energy Corporation, Al-Hashemi Mohammed Al-Abyad, aimed at supporting and developing scientific and technological research in areas of mutual interest, particularly in the peaceful applications of atomic energy.

The MoU aims to enhance scientific cooperation between the two parties, develop research capabilities, and cultivate national expertise through the implementation of joint research programs, the exchange of experiences and knowledge, and the utilization of specialized laboratories and facilities. It also includes organizing seminars, conferences, and workshops, exchanging scientific information, and implementing specialized training programs for researchers and technicians.

Both parties affirmed that this step supports the Libyan state's efforts to promote scientific research, encourage innovation, and build human capacity, thereby contributing to achieving sustainable development and serving priority national issues.

They also emphasized the importance of continuing to implement the MoU's provisions to achieve mutual benefits and strengthen institutional partnerships in accordance with best practices and established scientific standards.
