Sebha, January 13, 2026 (LANA) – The electoral process for the election of the mayor of Sebha was completed today, Tuesday, at the Sebha Electoral Administration Office. The voting resulted in the unanimous election of Hafaf Omar Ali Al-Aswad as mayor by the elected members of the municipal council.
The election took place in the presence of the committee formed under Resolution No. (6) of 2026, all members of the municipal council, and representatives of civil society organizations and the media, in a transparent manner and in accordance with established legal procedures.
The Sebha Electoral Administration Office explained on its official Facebook page that the voting process was conducted within the office premises, in accordance with the legal regulations governing the electoral process, and with direct monitoring by civil society organizations and the media.
The election of the mayor of Sabha comes after the High National Elections Commission announced last Thursday the final results of the municipal council elections for eight municipalities within the third group for the year 2025: Benghazi, Qaminis, Al-Abyar, Tukrah, Suluq, Qasr al-Jedi, Sirte, and Sabha, following the completion of all legal and technical stages of the electoral process.
