Tripoli, January 13, 2026 (LANA) – The Commodity Price Monitoring Committee, affiliated with the Law Enforcement Department of the General Directorate of Security Operations, conducted a field inspection tour yesterday, Monday, covering a number of factories, companies, and warehouses located in the central region. This tour was carried out as part of the committee's assigned tasks and in accordance with the decision of the Prime Minister of the Government of National Unity regarding monitoring commodity prices and addressing violations.
The Law Enforcement Department explained in a post on its page Monday evening that the tour aimed to verify the extent to which the entities subject to inspection were adhering to legal regulations and approved technical standards. The committee inspected a number of factories, and the results of the inspection and audit showed their full compliance with legal and regulatory requirements, without recording any observations or violations.
In the same context, the inspection resulted in the closure of the "Ghalia" cooking oil production company, after it was proven that it had committed clear legal violations. These violations consisted of offering and distributing its products in the local market without including the approved price on sales invoices, in clear violation of consumer protection legislation and financial transparency rules.
The Commodity Price Monitoring Committee affirmed its commitment to continuing its inspection tours across various regions and addressing any violations that could harm the market or consumers. It emphasized that it will take deterrent legal measures against violators to ensure market regulation, price control, and the protection of citizens' rights.
