Benghazi, January 12, 2026 (LANA) – The House of Representatives voted by majority today, Monday, to form a technical committee to meet with the Governor of the Central Bank of Libya, his deputy, and the bank's board of directors to discuss the issues requiring answers before the House.
This came during the official session held at the House headquarters in Benghazi, chaired by Speaker of the House of Representatives, Counselor Aguila Saleh, and attended by the First Deputy Speaker, Fawzi Al-Nuwairi, and the Second Deputy Speaker, Misbah Douma.
According to the House spokesperson, Abdullah Blihaq, the committee will discuss with the Governor and his deputy the cash liquidity shortage, the exchange rate, salary delays, and how to address them, as well as their attendance at the next session. The committee is to submit its report to the House as soon as possible.
The session began with a request from the Governor of the Central Bank of Libya, his deputy, the bank's board of directors, the Libyan government, and the National Oil Corporation to postpone the summons for today's session to the next session for various reasons, including to allow them time to prepare.
The House also discussed the proposed draft law on money laundering and combating terrorism. After deliberation, it was postponed to a future session, and the session was adjourned.
