Tripoli, January 12, 2026 (LANA) – The High Council of State held a session in Tripoli today, Monday, to complete the process of electing members of the Board of Directors of the High National Elections Commission.
The President of the High Council of State, Mohamed Takala, explained that the quorum for today's session reached 84 members, stressing that changing the Board of Directors of the High National Elections Commission is an inherent right of the House of Representatives and the High Council of State, and no party has the right to interfere in this matter.
Takala affirmed the Council's readiness to negotiate and reach a consensus on any political framework or agreement aimed at unifying institutions.
He also indicated that the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) must adhere to neutrality in its dealings with political bodies.
