Tripoli, January 11, 2025 (LANA) – Minister of Social Affairs Wafaa Al-Kilani, in her capacity as head of the High Committee for Displaced Persons and Refugees, chaired an expanded meeting today to follow up on the implementation of the Prime Minister's decision regarding the restructuring of the committee and defining its responsibilities and working mechanisms.
During the meeting, which was attended by representatives of relevant bodies, proposed working mechanisms were discussed to enhance institutional coordination and support the Ministry's efforts in providing social services to targeted groups, including the disbursement of the displaced persons and refugees grant to alleviate their living burdens.
The meeting also addressed the committee's tasks and its role in developing national strategies aimed at finding practical and sustainable solutions to displacement and migration issues, and working to provide social protection and psychosocial support, thereby contributing to improving the conditions of displaced persons and refugees and facilitating their voluntary and safe return to their areas of origin.
During the meeting, Al-Kilani emphasized the importance of coordination among relevant government agencies and strengthening partnerships with civil society organizations and municipalities. She stressed the commitment to submitting periodic reports and recommendations that contribute to addressing existing challenges and ensuring the timely disbursement of the displaced persons' grant.
