The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation is discussing with the United Nations joint efforts to combat organized and transnational crime.

Tripoli, January 11, 2025 (LANA) – Undersecretary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for Expatriate Affairs, Mohammed Saeed Zeidan, met today with the Regional Representative of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) for the Middle East and North Africa, Cristina Albertin, to discuss areas of joint cooperation in this field.

During the meeting, held at the Ministry's headquarters in Tripoli and attended by the Director of the Department of International Organizations, Sufian Balkhair, both sides emphasized the importance of continued consultation and coordination to strengthen joint efforts to combat organized and transnational crime in all its forms.

Zeidan affirmed the active role played by the UNODC in addressing the challenges of irregular migration, organized crime, and drug trafficking in the region, stressing the importance of enhancing joint cooperation in this area.

For her part, Cristina Albertin commended the role of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Government of National Unity in facilitating all necessary procedures for the work of the UN organization, which contributes to its performance of its duties and the reduction of organized crime in all its forms.
