Tripoli, January 11, 2026 (LANA) – Minister of Economy and Trade in the Government of National Unity, Mohammed Al-Hawij, announced that the ministry has developed a comprehensive vision aimed at protecting consumers, stabilizing prices, and eliminating currency smuggling. This includes preparing a guiding import budget to ensure market regulation and direct genuine demand.

Al-Hawij added in a statement that the Ministry of Economy and Trade will carry out its legal duties without hesitation, in direct coordination with the relevant regulatory and security authorities, to eliminate corruption, dismantle monopoly networks and currency smuggling, and assert the state's authority within the Libyan market.

He affirmed that the ministry will publish lists of imported goods periodically, accompanied by their guiding prices, allowing citizens to review and monitor prices, thus contributing to curbing price manipulation and protecting consumers.

Al-Hawij emphasized that the ministry's campaigns will continue until trade in the country is regulated and chaos and illegal practices are brought to an end, despite attempts to prevent the ministry from fulfilling its role and national objectives.

Al-Hawij pointed out that honest merchants and those who support the national economy will be granted benefits, while, conversely, the ministry will work resolutely to combat currency smugglers and all those who exploit the citizens' livelihoods, in full coordination with the relevant regulatory bodies.

The Minister of Economy and Trade called on all media outlets to exercise accuracy and obtain information from official sources, emphasizing that the ministry is fully prepared to respond to all inquiries and clarify any ambiguities for the public, according to the Ministry of Economy.
