Al-Sisi and the EU High Representative stress the need for a peaceful solution to the Libyan crisis.

Tripoli 11 January 2026 (Lana) Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi received the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Kaja Kallas, in Cairo yesterday, in the presence of Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdel-Ati.
The official spokesperson for the Egyptian Presidency stated that the meeting addressed all aspects of relations between Egypt and the EU, in addition to discussing the latest regional and international developments of mutual interest, including the situation in Libya.
The spokesperson added that both parties emphasized the importance of addressing the Libyan crisis through peaceful solutions that guarantee the preservation of Libya's unity and territorial integrity, and safeguard the resources of the Libyan people, stressing the need to avoid any military escalation that could exacerbate the situation and lead to serious repercussions affecting the security and stability of the entire region.
