Tripoli, January 8, 2026 (LANA) – The Special Tasks Department of the Ministry of Interior of the Government of National Unity announced that its patrols had seized a factory used for manufacturing boats for illegal immigration in the Al-Qawiya area, west of the city of Qarabulli, as part of efforts to combat human trafficking.
The department stated in a post on its Facebook page that the operation came as part of its efforts to address the phenomenon of illegal immigration, following information received from confidential sources indicating the existence of a site used to manufacture boats intended for smuggling illegal immigrants in the Al-Qawiya area.
It explained that after obtaining a warrant from the relevant prosecutor at the Attorney General's office, patrols from the Special Tasks Department, affiliated with the General Directorate of Security Operations, raided the site and seized several boats prepared for use in human trafficking operations. The department emphasized that this operation is part of its ongoing investigation and meticulous monitoring efforts to pursue criminal networks involved in exploiting human lives and harming national security, stressing its continued commitment to taking deterrent measures against anyone proven to be involved in such illegal activities.
