Tripoli, January 8, 2026 (LANA) – The Air Ambulance Service has begun operating international air ambulance flights using helicopters, a significant step reflecting the high level of preparedness and professional competence of the service, as well as the development of its operational capabilities and enhanced response speed to critical medical cases.
In a statement on its official page, the service reported the successful completion of its first international air ambulance mission, transporting a critically ill patient from Mitiga International Airport to Sfax-Thyna Airport in Tunisia. The operation was conducted in full compliance with the highest aviation safety standards and approved medical protocols, under the supervision of a specialized medical and aircrew team. This was achieved with the full support of the Operations Department and the technical and engineering teams.
The Air Ambulance Service indicated that this achievement reflects its ability to execute complex missions both domestically and internationally, and embodies organized teamwork among its various departments, ensuring the provision of a fast, safe, and effective air ambulance service, where every second counts in saving lives.
