Tripoli, January 7, 2026 (LANA) – The Prime Minister of the Government of National Unity, Abdulhamid Dabaiba, met with local leaders from 30 municipalities, in the presence of the Minister of Local Government, Abdulshafi Al-Juwaifi, to review the conditions of the local communities and the services provided to citizens, and to work on improving the efficiency of local performance.

The meeting, which was also attended by Mustafa Al-Manea, Head of the Executive Team for Presidential Initiatives and Strategic Projects, focused on discussing the level of services provided by the local communities, mechanisms for their development, and strengthening the role of mukhtars in addressing daily problems. The meeting also reviewed the most prominent challenges they face in carrying out their duties and ways to overcome them in order to improve the quality of services provided to citizens.

The local leaders praised the efforts of the Government of National Unity in supporting the local governance process and raising the level of services. They emphasized the importance of continuing to grant local leaders the necessary powers to enable them to perform their service and organizational roles more efficiently, according to the government's media office.

The Prime Minister directed the Ministry of Local Government and relevant authorities to follow up on the meeting's outcomes, provide administrative and technical support to local leaders, and enhance coordination with municipalities to ensure a swift response to citizens' needs and improve services at the local level.

According to the media office, local leaders from the municipalities of Traghen, Tahala, Brak al-Shati, Idri al-Shati, al-Qardah al-Shati, Ghat, al-Shuwayrif, Sabratha, al-Zawiya al-Wusta, al-Zawiya al-Markaz, Ras al-Hilal, al-Rahibat, al-Gharifa, Tarhuna, al-Zahra, al-Bayda, al-Militaniya, Tobruk, Benghazi, Umm al-Razm, Bani Walid, Surman, Wadi al-Bawanis, al-Shaqiqa, Zliten, Souq al-Jum'a, Tripoli al-Markaz, Misrata, and Hay al-Andalus participated in the meeting.
