Al-Menfi adopts the National Charter for National Reconciliation

Tripoli, January 7, 2026 (LANA) – The Head of the Presidential Council, Mohammed Al-Menfi, adopted the National Charter for National Reconciliation today, Wednesday, in the capital, Tripoli, in the presence of members of the High Council for Peace and National Reconciliation and representatives of diplomatic missions accredited to Libya.
In his opening remarks, Al-Menfi stated that this charter represents the fruit of a sincere national effort and a collective will based on the belief that Libya cannot achieve stability or progress except through reconciliation, dialogue, tolerance, and prioritizing the national interest above all else. He explained that signing this charter does not represent the end of this process, but rather the beginning of a new phase that requires all of us to continue working diligently and responsibly to implement the charter and translate its principles and provisions into a tangible reality that citizens can experience in their daily lives.
According to the Presidential Media Office, Al-Menfi affirmed his support for the High Council for National Reconciliation, established in accordance with the provisions of the Charter for Peace and Reconciliation. He emphasized its pivotal role in monitoring and overseeing the implementation of its provisions and accompanying the national reconciliation process to ensure its continuity, thereby achieving the goals of social peace, justice, redress, and strengthening trust among the citizens of the nation.
The office explained that Al-Menfi announced during the session the adoption of the High Council for Peace and National Reconciliation's decision to designate January 7th of each year as the National Day for Peace and Reconciliation.
