Tripoli, January 4, 2026 (LANA) – The Ministry of Interior of the Government of National Unity affirmed that combating extremism and terrorism is a national priority and a shared responsibility, requiring the concerted efforts of all security, intellectual, and societal actors.

This came in a statement issued today, Sunday, on the occasion of the Arab Week for Awareness of the Dangers of Extremism and Terrorism, which falls from January 4 to 10 each year.

The Ministry reiterated its commitment to continuing the implementation of policies and strategies aimed at strengthening security and stability, confronting all forms of extremist ideology through preventative and awareness-raising efforts, consolidating the values ​​of moderation and tolerance, and promoting a culture of dialogue and the rejection of violence and hatred.

The Ministry of Interior stated that societal awareness constitutes the first line of defense against extremism and terrorism, and that security is a collective responsibility based on cooperation and integration among all parties.

According to the Ministry, this occasion serves to highlight the pivotal role of families, educational and media institutions, and civil society organizations in protecting children and youth from the dangers of intellectual deviation, and in building societal awareness that contributes to fortifying society and preserving its security and stability.
