The Ministry of Foreign Affairs is holding a preparatory meeting to prepare for hosting the fourth African-Turkish Partnership Summit.

Tripoli, January 4, 2026 (LANA) – The High Preparatory Committee at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs held its first meeting today, Sunday, to prepare for Libya's hosting of the Fourth African-Turkish Partnership Summit.

The meeting, chaired by the Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs, Taher Al-Baour, addressed the general framework for preparing for the summit, emphasizing its political and diplomatic importance as a pivotal milestone in the African-Turkish partnership. It also presented an opportunity to assess the outcomes of the Third Summit, held in Istanbul in 2021, and to explore avenues for developing this partnership in the coming phase.

The meeting also reviewed the initial concept for the Preparatory Committee's work mechanism, encompassing political, substantive, and organizational aspects. Emphasis was placed on the importance of early and systematic preparation, as well as coordination with relevant national bodies and regional and international partners, to ensure a successful summit in terms of both content and results.

Al-Baour stressed the need to intensify efforts in the coming phase and to work as a unified team to maximize the benefits for Libya from hosting this important continental event.
