A drug trafficking network including African women was arrested in Tripoli and Misrata.

Tripoli, January 3, 2026 (LANA) – The Anti-Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances Agency announced the dismantling of a criminal network specializing in drug and psychotropic substance trafficking in the Gergaresh area of ​​Tripoli.

In a statement issued today, Saturday, the agency explained that its investigation and arrest teams, under the Operations and Coordination Department, apprehended a man, along with three Sudanese women, while they were engaged in their criminal activities.

The statement added that the network members were in possession of 228 tablets suspected to be Lyrica. It confirmed that the necessary legal procedures were taken and the detainees were referred to the Anti-Narcotics Prosecution Office.

The Misrata branch of the Anti-Narcotics and Psychotropic Substances Agency also arrested a Nigerian woman who was distributing drugs within the city. She was found in possession of 15 pieces suspected to be hashish prepared for sale, in addition to eight bottles of locally produced liquor.

The source confirmed that the necessary legal procedures were taken against her and that she was referred to the Anti-Narcotics Prosecution Office.
