The House of Representatives approves the budget of the Electoral Commission and decides to summon the Governor of the Central Bank and his deputy.

Benghazi, December 30, 2025 (LANA) – The House of Representatives unanimously approved the budget of the High National Elections Commission on Tuesday, stipulating that it be overseen by the Finance Committee.
In its session, chaired by Speaker Aguila Saleh and attended by First Deputy Speakers Fawzi Al-Nuwairi and Misbah Douma, the House also voted by majority to summon the Governor of the Central Bank of Libya, his deputy, and members of the Board of Directors to discuss the liquidity crisis and the state's financial affairs.
The House further decided to summon the Libyan government appointed by the House and the National Oil Corporation to discuss matters related to economic and financial issues.
The House of Representatives approved the formation of a committee to study the situation of retirees and propose possible solutions for them. Additionally, it discussed a proposed amendment to Law No. 2 of 2018 concerning universities, to rename it the Higher Education and Scientific Research Law, and a proposed amendment to Law No. 21 of 2014 concerning the regulation of higher and technical education. A committee was formed, under the supervision of Second Deputy Speaker Misbah Douma, and including MPs Saleh Hashim, Abdul Salam Nasiya, and Fariha Al-Hadhiri, to work with the Education Affairs Committee to study the proposed amendments.
Under the item of new business, the holding of a council session in the city of Sabha was discussed and approved, and at the end of that the session was adjourned.
