Turkey denies claims that its plane refused to land in Libya for fear of retaliation.

Ankara, 30 December 2025 (Lana) The Turkish Presidency's Disinformation Center denied claims that a Turkish Airlines plane refrained from landing at a Libyan airport out of fear of a retaliatory act linked to the incident involving the Libyan military delegation in Ankara.

This came in a statement published by the center affiliated with the Turkish Presidency’s Directorate of Communications on the Turkish "InSocial" platform in response to reports circulated by some media outlets and social media pages.

The Center said that Turkish Airlines flight TK 641, scheduled from Istanbul to the Libyan city of Benghazi on 24 December 2025, was diverted to Bodrum–Milas Airport in Turkey due to wind speeds at the destination airport exceeding the operational limits.

Anadolu Agency quoted the center as confirming that there was no other reason for the diversion, noting that flights to Libya in the days following that date continued normally according to the planned schedule.

The Center urged the public not to be misled by “these claims, which contain media disinformation aimed at harming relations with sisterly and friendly Libya by exploiting a painful incident.
