Tripoli, December 28, 2025 (LANA) – The Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation in the Government of National Unity, Taher Al-Baour, expressed Libya's solidarity and full support for the Republic of Somalia in the face of the Israeli declaration recognizing the so-called "Somaliland" region.

In a message of solidarity addressed to his Somali counterpart, Abdisalam Abdi Ali, Al-Baour considered this move a blatant violation of the sovereignty and national unity of the Republic of Somalia and a clear breach of the principles of international law and the Charter of the United Nations.

He affirmed Libya's categorical rejection of any unilateral actions that would undermine the unity and territorial integrity of states, according to a statement published by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation on its official page.

In his message, Al-Baour stressed the necessity of upholding the sovereignty of the Federal Republic of Somalia over all its territory and its legitimate right to maintain its national unity without interference or attempts to impose a new reality.

He also reiterated his call for the international community to assume its legal and moral responsibilities and reject such illegitimate decisions that threaten security and stability.

Al-Baour concluded his message by affirming Libya's continued coordination and cooperation with the Federal Republic of Somalia in various international forums, in support of legitimacy and to reinforce the principles of respecting the sovereignty, unity, and territorial integrity of states.
