An internal committee of the unity government has begun investigating the plane crash that killed Haddad and his companions, in coordination and cooperation with the Turkish authorities.

Tripoli, December 25, 2025 (LANA) – The committee formed by a decision of the Minister of Interior of the Government of National Unity, Emad Al-Tarabulsi, has begun its work investigating the plane crash that killed Chief of the General Staff, Lieutenant General Mohammed Al-Haddad, and his companions, in coordination and cooperation with Turkish authorities.

The Criminal Investigation Department explained in a post on its official page Wednesday evening that the committee is headed by the department's director, Major General Mahmoud Al-Ajili. The statement indicated that a specialized team is continuing to complete the necessary procedures for repatriating the bodies of the deceased, in addition to collecting DNA samples and comparing them with samples from their relatives according to established standards.

The committee's tasks include searching for and investigating the wreckage of the plane, as part of the ongoing investigation, and uncovering all the circumstances surrounding the accident, according to the same source.

It is worth noting that the plane crash resulted in the death of Chief of the General Staff, Lieutenant General Mohammed Al-Haddad, as well as the Commander of the Ground Forces of the Government of National Unity, Lieutenant General Al-Fitouri Ghraibil, the Director of Military Manufacturing, Brigadier General Mahmoud Jumaa Al-Qatawi, the advisor to the Chief of Staff of the Libyan Army, Mohammed Al-Asawi, and photographer Mohammed Omar Ahmed Mahjoub.
