Tripoli, December 24, 2025 (LANA) – The British Embassy in Libya offered its deepest condolences to the Libyan people on the death of Chief of the General Staff, Lieutenant General Mohammed Al-Haddad, and his companions, who perished Tuesday evening when their plane crashed while returning from an official mission to Turkey.
In a post on its official Facebook page Wednesday, the embassy said: “We are deeply saddened by the tragic loss of the Chief of the General Staff of the Libyan Army, Lieutenant General Mohammed Al-Haddad, who died along with four of his colleagues. Our thoughts are with the families of Lieutenant General Mohammed Al-Haddad, Lieutenant General Al-Fitouri Ghraibil, Brigadier General Mohammed Al-Qatawi, Advisor to the Chief of the General Staff Mohammed Al-Asawi Diab, and photographer Mohammed Mahjoub, as well as with the families of the three crew members who also lost their lives.
Lieutenant General Mohammed Al-Haddad served his country with dedication and sound judgment. The United Kingdom extends its sincere condolences to the Libyan people during this time of national mourning.”
