Tripoli, December 24, 2025 (LANA) – The General Staff of the Libyan Army mourned the loss of Chief of Staff, Lieutenant General Mohammed al-Haddad, and his companions, who died Tuesday evening when their plane crashed while returning from an official mission to Turkey.
In a statement issued on behalf of the Presidency, Lieutenant General Dr. Salah al-Din al-Namroush, Deputy Chief of Staff, said, "We mourn for Libya and the members of the military establishment the death of the Chief of the General Staff of the Libyan Army, Lieutenant General Muhammad al-Haddad, and his companions: Lieutenant General al-Fitouri Ghraibil, Chief of Staff of the Ground Forces; Brigadier General Mahmoud al-Qatawi, Director of the Military Manufacturing Authority; Muhammad al-Asawi Diab, Advisor to the Chief of the General Staff; and Muhammad Omar Ahmad Mahjoub, photographer at the Media Center of the General Staff. They perished in a tragic accident while returning from an official trip to Ankara, Turkey."
