Tripoli, December 23, 2025 (LANA) – The Turkish Ministry of the Interior and Turkish media reported on Tuesday evening that contact had been lost with a private plane that took off from Esenboğa Airport in Ankara bound for Tripoli. The plane was carrying five people, including Libyan Chief of Staff Mohammed al-Haddad and Chief of Staff of the Ground Forces, al-Fitouri Ghraibil.
The ministry indicated that contact with the Falcon 50 aircraft was lost after its crew reported requesting an emergency landing in the Haymana area near Ankara. Contact was not re-established, prompting Turkish authorities to launch search and rescue operations at the location.
The Government of National Accord announced that Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Dabaiba had formed a crisis cell to communicate with Turkish authorities and take all necessary measures to determine the fate of the plane and its passengers.
It is worth noting that Libyan Chief of Staff Mohammed al-Haddad had met with his Turkish counterpart, Selçuk Bayraktar, earlier on Tuesday at the General Staff headquarters in Ankara. The two held a closed-door meeting away from the media.
Turkish and Libyan authorities are closely monitoring the incident, continuing their efforts to contact the aircraft and determine the possible reasons for its disappearance.
