Libya and Japan discuss cooperation in the fields of early cancer detection and clinical research.

Tripoli, December 21, 2025 (LANA) – The Department of Asian and Australian Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation organized a meeting today between the Chairman of the National Cancer Control Authority, Haider Al-Sayeh, and the Japanese Ambassador to Libya, Shimura Izuru.
The meeting, held at the Authority's headquarters, focused on exploring avenues of cooperation with leading Japanese institutions in the fields of early cancer detection, clinical research, and advanced technology transfer.
During the meeting, the Libyan side emphasized its commitment to activating scientific partnerships that would ensure the training of national personnel and provide the latest treatment solutions within the country. The Japanese side expressed its welcome for strengthening this cooperation and extended an invitation to the Authority to visit specialized institutions in Japan to begin taking concrete steps toward implementation.
This meeting comes within the framework of the role played by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, through its diplomatic channels, in supporting national institutions to enhance their international partnerships in health-related matters with leading countries in this field.
