Tripoli, December 18, 2025 (LANA) – Presidential Council member Abdullah Al-Lafi met yesterday in Paris with the French Republic's Special Envoy to Libya, Paul Soler, to discuss bilateral relations and prospects for their development in a way that serves the common interests of both countries. They also reviewed existing cooperation and France's supportive role in the political process in Libya.
The Presidential Council's media office reported that the meeting emphasized the importance of France's role in supporting any rapprochement between Libyan parties and contributing to creating a conducive environment that leads to a comprehensive political solution. This solution would culminate in inclusive national elections in which all Libyans participate, considered the best way to end the division and establish lasting stability.
The office quoted Al-Lafi as stressing the need to intensify coordination and consultation on issues of common interest, in order to enhance security and stability in Libya and the region, and to enable international efforts to effectively and objectively support the national political process.
