Naji Issa affirms the Central Bank’s commitment to resolving liquidity bottlenecks and taking measures to regulate it.

Tripoli, December 18, 2025 (LANA) – The meeting held yesterday, Wednesday, between the Prime Minister of the Government of National Unity, Abdulhamid Dabaiba, and the Governor of the Central Bank of Libya, Naji Mohammed Issa, focused on monitoring the financial situation and the efforts being made to ensure the availability of cash and improve the level of banking services.

The Central Bank stated on its official page that the meeting, held at the Prime Minister's office in Tripoli, addressed coordination with the Ministry of Economy and Trade regarding the opening of letters of credit. This aims to support economic stability, meet market needs, curb speculation in the parallel market and the smuggling of currency and goods abroad, regulate import activity through official channels, and tighten procedures and controls on money laundering and the financing of terrorism.

According to the same source, both parties emphasized coordinating efforts and providing full support to the Central Bank of Libya's efforts to overcome speculative activity and the difficulties facing the banking sector. They stressed the importance of continuing the "Your Salary Instantly" program, not only to facilitate citizens receiving their salaries without delay, but also to reduce waste in the first budget chapter. They also emphasized the obligation of all sectors to implement the program without exception.

Governor Naji Mohammed Issa affirmed the bank's commitment to resolving liquidity bottlenecks in accordance with the plan set by the Central Bank of Libya, and to taking the necessary measures to ensure the regularity of liquidity, improve banking services provided to citizens, and enhance electronic payment services.
