Takala discusses the political, security and economic situation in Libya with the French President's envoy

Paris, December 17, 2025 (LANA) – The President of the High Council of State, Mohamed Takala, met with the French President's Special Envoy to Libya, Paul Soler, at the Élysée Palace in Paris to discuss the political, security, and economic situation in the country.

Takala presented the High Council of State's vision regarding developments in the political landscape and the importance of pushing for a comprehensive consensus-based approach that would end the division and achieve lasting stability.

The President of the High Council of State stressed the need to support national efforts aimed at holding elections within a consensual constitutional and legal framework.

The two sides discussed the existing security challenges and ways to enhance stability and extend state authority. They also discussed the economic situation and its direct impact on citizens' lives, as well as the need for urgent reforms to ensure sound resource management and equitable distribution.

For his part, the French President's Special Envoy affirmed his country's support for the Libyan political process led by the Libyan parties and under the auspices of the United Nations. He emphasized the importance of dialogue and consensus among the various institutions and France's readiness to contribute to supporting efforts aimed at achieving security, stability, and development in Libya.

At the conclusion of the meeting, both parties agreed, according to the Council's media office, on the importance of continued communication and coordination, and strengthening joint cooperation in a way that serves the interests of the Libyan people and contributes to supporting regional and international stability.
