Al-Lafi discusses with the French ambassador to Libya the latest political developments in the country

Tripoli, December 15, 2025 (LANA) – Presidential Council member Abdullah Al-Lafi met today with the new French Ambassador to Libya, Thierry Vallat, to discuss the role France can play in supporting Libyan-Libyan efforts and bridging the gaps between the various political factions.

The meeting addressed the latest political developments in Libya, the progress of the political process amidst the current impasse, and efforts to advance the political track towards a comprehensive national consensus that would lead to ending the transitional phases and achieving institutional stability.

During the meeting, Al-Lafi emphasized the importance of the French role in supporting stability in Libya and the region, and the necessity of coordinating positions to contribute to strengthening regional security and peace, and to serve the prospects for the success of a sustainable political process based on respect for Libya's sovereignty and the will of its people.

For his part, French Ambassador Thierry Vallat reiterated his country's support for the efforts of the Presidential Council and for an inclusive, Libyan-led political process aimed at overcoming the political stalemate and achieving lasting stability.
