Tripoli, December 11, 2025 (LANA) – The Joint Military Commission (5+5) affirmed its commitment to the full implementation of the ceasefire and its support for the efforts of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) to advance the political process, including holding general elections and building unified state institutions that meet the aspirations of the Libyan people.
According to a statement issued by UNSMIL, this affirmation came during a workshop organized by the Mission and the Libya Programme at the Geneva Centre for Security Sector Governance (DCAF) with the Joint Military Commission (5+5) and the heads of the Sub-Committee on Security Arrangements. The workshop reviewed progress made in implementing the ceasefire agreement, including the withdrawal of mercenaries, foreign fighters, and foreign forces, and identified priorities for sustaining the ceasefire and fully implementing the agreement's provisions.
The Mission explained that DCAF presented international experiences and lessons learned from other countries' ceasefire experiences during the workshop.
