U.S. Embassy in Libya celebrates the 249th Anniversary of U.S. Independence.

Tripoli, 9 December 2025 (Lana): The U.S. reiterated its commitment to continued cooperation and joint efforts to support a more unified, prosperous, and secure Libya during a reception hosted by the U.S. Embassy in Libya yesterday to commemorate the 249th anniversary of U.S. independence, in the presence of members of the diplomatic community and Libyan and international officials.

“Our strong partnership with Libya remains focused on advancing peace and prosperity for both our nations, and the bilateral cooperation continues to develop in a way that serves stability and development,” the embassy said in a tweet.

The embassy expressed its aspiration for next year, which marks the 250th anniversary of U.S. independence and 230 years of diplomatic relations with Libya, emphasizing Washington's continued commitment to supporting efforts to build a unified and secure Libya and enhance opportunities for prosperity for its people.
