The House of Representatives' Defense and National Security Committee warns against the infiltration of Libyan identity.

Benghazi, December 8, 2025 (LANA) – The House of Representatives' Defense and National Security Committee expressed its deep concern regarding the manipulation and abuses within the vital civil registry and official records system. This has led to foreigners illegally obtaining national identification numbers and thus benefiting from privileges reserved for Libyan citizens. The committee considers this a direct threat to national security and Libyan identity.

In a statement issued today, Monday, the committee stressed the necessity of protecting the state's legal identity and preserving national sovereignty, warning against the infiltration of counterfeit identities into the official database.

The committee called upon the relevant authorities to take this matter seriously, to refer those involved to trial in accordance with the law without exception, and to impose the severest penalties on all those who participated in this crime, directly or indirectly.
