UN official: Keeping the CBL away from political tension is essential for consolidating economic reform.

Tripoli, 8 December 2025 (Lana) Deputy Special Representative of the Secretary-General and UN Resident Coordinator in Libya, Ulrika Richardson, participated yesterday in the annual Banking Sector Development Forum, where she joined a panel alongside experts and discussed safeguarding the Central Bank of Libya’s (CBL) decision-making independence, away from conflict and political influence.

“Such open expert-facilitated exchanges are essential to advancing Libya’s economic reform agenda and supporting the country’s long-term stability and development,” she said in a tweet.
