Benghazi, December 7, 2025 (LANA) – Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar, Commander-in-Chief of the Libyan National Army, met with a high-level European delegation in Benghazi on Sunday to discuss local and regional developments, as well as ways to combat illegal immigration and human and drug trafficking networks.

The European delegation included the European Union Ambassador to Libya, Nicola Orlando, the Commander of Operation Irini, Admiral Marco Casapieri, and the Head of the EU Border Assistance Mission (EUBAM), Jan Fischettal.

The General Command's media office stated that the meeting, which was also attended by the Deputy Commander-in-Chief and the Chief of the General Staff, saw the two sides exchange views on local and regional developments and discuss ways to combat illegal immigration and human and drug trafficking networks.

For its part, the European delegation commended the General Command's efforts in achieving security and stability in Libya and securing its land and sea borders, affirming its continued commitment to efforts aimed at achieving lasting stability in Libya.
