Libya and China - Joint Economic Cooperation.

Tripoli, December 4, 2025 (LANA) – The Undersecretary of the Ministry of Economy and Trade, Suhail Abu Shiha, met with the Chargé d'Affaires of the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in Libya, Liu Jian, to discuss prospects for developing economic cooperation and increasing trade between the two countries.

This meeting took place today, Thursday, at the Ministry of Economy headquarters in Tripoli, to discuss mechanisms for strengthening bilateral cooperation, following up on partnership programs between the two countries, and facilitating the work of Chinese companies in various sectors.

The Undersecretary reviewed the Government of National Unity's vision for developing the renewable energy sector and the significant advantages offered by special economic zones designated for export purposes for establishing joint investment projects.

This step comes within the framework of the Ministry of Economy and Trade's efforts to enhance international cooperation, support reconstruction plans, and achieve sustainable economic development in Libya.

Both sides emphasized the depth of Libyan-Chinese relations and their continuous development at various political, economic, and developmental levels, as well as their shared commitment to elevating these relations to broader horizons.

The meeting was attended by Ashraf Al-Taib, Director of the International Cooperation Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Hisham Bouden, Director of the Strategic Studies and Research Department, and Hassan Al-Kamel, Director of the Private Sector Development Department at the Ministry of Economy and Trade.
