Al-Menfi meets with the French ambassador to Libya

Tripoli, December 3, 2025 (LANA) – The Head of the Presidential Council, Mohammed Al-Menfi, met today, Wednesday, at the Council's headquarters in Tripoli, with the French Ambassador to Libya, Thierry Vallat, in their first official meeting since the latter presented his diplomatic credentials.

According to the Presidential Council's media office, the Ambassador conveyed the greetings of French President Emmanuel Macron and an official invitation to participate in the France-Africa Summit scheduled to be held in Nairobi, Kenya, in the middle of next year. He emphasized Paris's keenness to strengthen bilateral cooperation and expand the horizons of partnership between the two countries in various areas of mutual interest.

The meeting reviewed the latest political and security developments in Libya, in addition to discussing economic pathways and matters related to supporting stabilization efforts.

The French Ambassador praised the pivotal role played by the Head of the Presidential Council in creating a conducive environment for reaching a comprehensive political settlement. He also commended the importance of the comprehensive initiative proposed by the President as a practical framework for organizing elections in accordance with a vision that guarantees stability and lasting peace.

Al-Menfi emphasized the importance of continuing coordination with the French side and supporting international and regional efforts aimed at ending the transitional phases in a way that serves the aspirations of the Libyan people for security and prosperity.
