Libya participates in the annual meeting of the OECD in Paris.

Paris, 2 December 2025 (Lana) Libya participated in the annual meeting of the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), held in Paris yesterday, with broad participation from leaders of economic institutions and policy experts from around the world.

Libya was represented at this event by the Chairman of the Competition and Anti-Monopoly Council, Salama Al-Ghawil, who presented Libya's vision for developing the competition system and strengthening the principles of integrity and transparency in the national economy.

Al-Ghawil emphasized that Libya's presence at this international forum reflects the national commitment to building a modern, competitive economy based on good governance, modernizing economic legislation, and improving the business environment to pave the way for the gradual and balanced integration of the Libyan economy into global markets.

He explained that exchanging expertise with the OECD and specialized international institutions represents an essential step towards developing competition policies in Libya in accordance with internationally recognized standards.

In its remark, the Libyan delegation emphasized that supporting national institutions concerned with competition is a fundamental factor in building a transparent and balanced market, enhancing investor confidence, and establishing a fair business environment that serves the country's economic reform process.

The participation also provided an opportunity for the Council to learn from the experiences of member states in combating monopolies and developing economic oversight mechanisms, in addition to discussing opportunities for future cooperation and partnerships that will strengthen Libya's presence in international economic forums.

The meeting will continue in the coming days with extensive discussions aimed at formulating new policies to address monopolistic practices, developing national systems that support competitiveness, and contributing to achieving sustainable development and improving the efficiency of the Libyan economy.
