Tripoli, December 1, 2025 (LANA) – The Libyan News Agency (LANA) and the University of Tripoli signed three cooperation agreements on Monday with the university's faculties of Media and Communication, Economics and Political Science, and Arts and Languages. The agreements aim to strengthen academic and professional partnerships between the two entities.

The agreements, signed by LANA Chairman Abdulbasit Aboudia and University of Tripoli President Dr. Khaled Mohamed Aoun, aim to establish sustainable channels of cooperation between the university and the agency. This will allow students and researchers to benefit from practical training in a real media environment, contributing to raising their professional skills and providing an opportunity for academics and media professionals to exchange expertise.

The three agreements stipulate cooperation across all functional and professional areas within LANA and the academic disciplines of the aforementioned faculties. This includes organizing courses, lectures, workshops, and scientific conferences at the national, regional, and international levels, as well as training and development programs. The agreements also encompass awareness campaigns on societal issues, with the goal of fostering national identity and social cohesion.

The agreement also includes conducting scientific research on the agency's work and activities, sponsored by the three colleges through their students and faculty. The agency will also provide free scientific training positions for students in its areas of expertise.

Furthermore, the agreements stipulate that the agency will employ outstanding students after the completion of the three-month training program, after which students will receive a professional practice certificate issued by the agency's general administration.

The signing ceremony was attended by the deans of the faculties of Media and Communication, Economics and Political Science, and Languages and Literature, as well as department heads and a number of journalists from the Libyan News Agency.

During the signing ceremony with the University of Tripoli, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Libyan News Agency, Abdulbasit Aboudia, emphasized that this partnership represents a significant strategic step in strengthening the relationship between academic and media institutions. This will be achieved through the exchange of expertise, the empowerment of young people, and the development of specialized personnel equipped with the knowledge and skills necessary to keep pace with the evolving profession of journalism and its modern requirements.

He explained that the agreement opens the agency's doors to students from faculties of media, Arabic language, and education, offering them real-world practical experience in a journalistic environment. They will learn about news production mechanisms, content creation, and newsroom management, under the direct supervision of the agency's editors, and participate in regular workshops on journalistic writing, field reporting, language editing, and digital journalism.

In his address, Aboudia emphasized that the partnership extends beyond technical training. It aims to invest in the capabilities of Libyan citizens and cultivate a conscious and educated generation capable of facing the challenges of our time. This will strengthen the university and the agency's position as active partners in development and in serving the community and the nation.

The Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Libyan News Agency pointed out that the agreement primarily aims to serve students and integrate them into the job market, urging them to take advantage of the available opportunities and strive for excellence and innovation.

For his part, the President of the University of Tripoli, Khaled Aoun, affirmed that cooperation with the Libyan News Agency will enable the university to benefit from the agency's expertise and the information available in its archives, facilitating joint scientific research that will serve the interests of both parties.

He added that one of the foundations of modern curriculum development is focusing on skills training and communication skills, and that the agreement strongly supports this direction. He emphasized that students will have the opportunity for practical training at a prestigious institution with over 60 years of experience, which represents a valuable opportunity for both students and professors.

Aoun pointed out that the Libyan News Agency's archives represent a rich resource for historical studies, noting that the available information is not confidential. This allows history professors and researchers in contemporary history to conduct in-depth studies. Some of this material can also be used as a basis for master's and doctoral theses, particularly in the fields of history, political science, and media, given the agency's specialization in these areas.

He added that the agency's strong presence today reflects a genuine and strong desire to cooperate with the university and open its archives and editorial centers. He affirmed that the university will give priority to candidates from the agency for postgraduate studies, bypassing the regular competitive selection process, in recognition of the partnership and to strengthen the link between media and academic expertise.

The university president pointed out that the University of Tripoli possesses a research center that can be utilized to train Libyan News Agency staff in modern technologies related to archiving, languages, statistical work, and questionnaire design.

He emphasized that the presence of deans from relevant faculties such as Media and Communication, Economics and Political Science, and Languages and Literature reflects the university's strong interest in this agreement, noting that other faculties will also benefit from this collaboration.
