Al-Fazzani meets with Ghadames Municipality.

Tripoli, December 1, 2025 (LANA) – The Minister of Tourism and Traditional Industries in the Government of National Unity, Nasr al-Din al-Fazzani, followed up with the Mayor of Ghadames, Yaqoub Dawi, on the implementation of the Ministry's program and plan to support the development of the tourism sector and the protection of heritage in the municipality.
The meeting, held today, Monday, at the Ministry's headquarters in Tripoli, focused on reviewing joint cooperation in implementing the Ministry's plan to focus on the city's rich tourist and heritage sites, and mechanisms for promoting and publicizing these sites both domestically and internationally. This comes in light of the results of the Minister's visit to the city and his participation in the third edition of Ghadames Shopping and Heritage Days, in addition to the successful inclusion of the village of Tunin in the Arab Architectural and Urban Heritage Register.
The meeting addressed tourism in Ghadames during the desert tourism season and ways to enhance services through coordination for the establishment of a tourist park in the city. It also covered finalizing the procedures for transferring employees from the Ministry of Local Government to the municipality.
The Minister assured the Mayor that the Ministry prioritizes the preservation of the city's historical treasures, in line with its national policies that protect all archaeological sites and cities in Libya. These sites are considered a global human heritage, and their continued preservation and development represent a significant source of national income.
During the meeting, Minister Nasr al-Din al-Fazzani emphasized the important and anticipated role of the Ghadames Municipality and all sectors and civil society organizations in supporting the Ministry's plans and programs for developing the tourism sector and protecting heritage.
