Tripoli, November 30, 2025 (LANA) – Libya Telecom announced the commencement of its plan to gradually shut down traditional telephone exchanges.
In a statement published on its official page today, Sunday, the company explained that this plan stems from the vision of the Libyan Post, Telecommunications and Information Technology Holding Company to develop the telecommunications sector. The aim is to build a modern and sustainable infrastructure that will end the era of outdated technologies and support the transition to a modern communications system that meets the aspirations of citizens and the business sector for a prosperous digital future.
The company added that this paves the way for the transfer of fixed-line telephone services to Libya Telecom and Technology Company, which will provide them using the latest technologies. The first phase included shutting down 70 telephone exchanges. The company assures ADSL subscribers that this procedure will not affect their current services until the completion of the FTTx fiber optic service projects.
