Tripoli, November 25, 2025 (LANA) – The French representative to the Security Council stated that his country is prepared to engage with the Libyan authorities and cooperate with the International Criminal Court (ICC) to facilitate its work in the country. He noted that while Libya is not a party to the Rome Statute, it has granted the Court the authority to operate within its borders.

In his address to the Security Council regarding the ICC Prosecutor's report on Libya, the French representative emphasized the need to hear from victims in Libya and urged the Libyan authorities to cooperate with the ICC in executing all outstanding arrest warrants issued by the Court.

He also commended the progress made by the Court in its handling of the Libyan case, including the arrest of Khaled al-Hishri, who was apprehended in Germany on charges of war crimes committed in Tripoli. He stressed the importance of not obstructing the Court's work.
